Dave Phinney continues his Location series with F1. The F is for France. He has found new roots to put down and has done so with great success. F1 is a marriage of Grenache from the Roussillon, Syrah from the Rhone, and the main red varietals from Bordeaux. The nose is richly dark with plum, black cherry, blueberry and a touch of pepper. The palate has nice weight with rich dark fruit flavors and a long finish. There’s just enough tannin to give the wine backbone and prevent it from tasting sappy.
