Colli Senesi is one of the seven subregions of Chianti and surrounds the town of Siena south of the Classico region. This wine is produced by Tenuta Vitanza and uses the superior Brunello clone of Sangiovese. The result is a wine of medium body and intense flavors. The nose shows dark red fruits with hints of oak, leather and spice. The taste is dry and smooth with moderate tannins presenting a good balance of fruit and acidity. It pairs beautifully with most meats and robust cheeses. I had it with a meatloaf, and it was great.
